Author: Erica Drazen. Summary: On June 16, 2011, the HIT Policy Committee made formal recommendations to CMS on requirements for Stage 2 of meaningful use. Under the recommendations for Stage 2, all Stage 1 menu items would be mandatory, the threshold and/or scope of many Stage 1 measures would be increased, and providers would be responsible for meeting a number of new requirements (particularly around care coordination and patient engagement).
